Guest guest
hiking in the midwest a couple decades ago, came across a pickup truck parked along an access road with the bumper sticker " god guns and guts " and something like " it's what makes america great " -- so that kind of thing has been simmering in certain parts of the country for a while also used to see preteens walking around with rifles, when I was out on long bicycle rides in the rolling hills So of course I thought I could get away from that mindset if I moved back to one of the coasts. Alas. Maybe the prohunting push (I hadn't noticed it, aside from the veep's strange episode) has to do with stress levels -- I vaguely recall psych experiments where as the stress levels increase, the critters start turning against each other and the society becomes more violent. But then I also heard Wangari M... (past Nobel prize winner) on the radio today. Asked why she bothers doing anything when doom looms, she said she tells the story of the hummingbird who, to put out a fire, would fly back and forth with a drop of water. THe other animals gave up in the face of an immense task and certain failure, but the hummingbird did what she could... (something like that).
