Guest guest
there is a weird product available in the USA called " vegan shrimp " made by vegeUSA, although i can't find the product on their website. we've bought the stuff at the local whole foods market, and eaten it prepared at the local sipz " vegan " cafe (don't get me started on them again...) anyway, the main ingredient in that stuff is " curdlan gel " . what the fuck is that? well, here it's Alcaligenes faecalis var. myxogenes 10C3K and further described here: http://www.patentstorm.us/patents/5360624-description.html if your eyes haven't glazed over by now, tell me: wft is this stuff? i cannot figure it out. it's obviously not something you'd want to eat, particularly when its described on a " patent " webpage. this helps: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Alcaligenes_faecalis so it sounds like its something like yeast, right? poop/yeast? its funny how putting the word " vegan " on something like this means a bunch of people (my wife and i) will buy it, eat it, and figure out whats it in later, eh? sad, so....sad..... ;^) blake
