1/2 cup toasted walnuts

3 cups packed basil leaves

3 cloves garlic, smashed

1 1/2 teaspoons salt

1/2 cup olive oil

1/4 cup nutritional yeast

2 teaspoons lemon juice

 

throw everything except the olive oil into your food processor and

blend up....slowly drizzle in the oil until done!!

 

yum!

Any reason why you use walnuts instead of pine nuts?

The recipe calls for walnuts, I used almonds last time and it was

good. Pine nuts are a bit expensive for me, but if I found some cheap

ones thats what I would use for sure!

cheaper as in less expensive.....around these parts (the midwest far

from any culture.....sigh) anything imported is expensive.

 

I used to live on the west coast and could get pretty much any

ingredient from any part of the world. I miss it, but am learning to

be creative with what this area has to offer. ex. walnut pesto.
