Guest guest
I've been spending a lot of time at my son's elementary school lately, and been noticing how strongly the school is pushing milk and dairy on these kids. I counted 7 posters around the lunchroom explaining how awesome milk is. They have " dairy days " where aparently someone from the dairy board comes and gives out free tee shirts and junk. Yesterday I was at the school as a reading mentor when the morning anouncments came over the loud speaker. I learned that if you don't like what they are serving at lunch, you always have the option of getting string cheese and yoghurt instead. The worst part, when I was leaving yesterday, I stopped to see my boy at lunch and *gasp!* he had chosen the string cheese and yoghurt lunch!!! AND instead of drinking juice or water, he had milk! EWWWWWWW!!!!! I couldn't kiss him goodbye! I talked to his teacher (who is very cool) about it and she was as upset as I am. She explained how she thought there were way more absenses and gross muchus snot nosed kids running around than last year. She asked me to write a letter to the school board about it and get more parents to complain if possible. So thats what I'm working on now. I know I'm not going to get milk out of the school, I just want them to stop pushing it so much. My son never had a drop of milk from my house, and he is old enough to make his own choices. So if he wants milk at school then fine, but I know its the only place he will get it. Can't wait for summer break.

Guest guest
I live in Michigan. This morning my boy and I packed his lunch together. I tried to make it appealing to him but he is very picky. We did soy yoghurt with chocolate chips, a bagel with fake cream cheese, some carrots and a clif bar. He put some water in his favorite bottle and took that too. I hope he continues to let me pack his lunch so I don't have to worry about it!"Tracy H." <denise_h22 wrote: That's horrible, but the dairy industry wants to get us when we're young.
