Guest guest
The effectiveness of vegan protesters against Schumacher Furs was a huge and pleasant surprise to me. I've gotten jaded over the years about protests -- the last one I participated in, for instance, didn't do much to stop Shrub from sending the troops to Iraq. But the anti-fur protesters simply stood outside the store, in downtown Portland, for day after day, holding signs and telling customers what happens to the animals. Shumacher's business plummeted. They then tried all sorts of dirty tactics, including suing the protesters. The federal judge saw through it and came through on the side of justice. And Shumacher's is out of its creepy business.
