i don't know if what the word

is....amazed...disgusted..overwhelmed...distraught...but

its been 5 yrs now since the start of this phase of the war in iraq....

how many lives lost?

millions

how much distruction?

untold

how much $$$

billions and billions

and yet, we are the good guys...

i give up....

was in SF this morning

lots of small groups scattered all over the city....100 here...200 there...

lots of street theater....marching bands...small direct action

groups...everyone, just blooming out of nowhere it seemed

the group i was in had a die in on Market...about 50 of us in the street

cops at first just stood and watched...talking with themselves and making no

moves at all....

but

guess some call came down

becuase it just seems they got angry all at once...a few anyways...a hundred

officers decended and started arresting folks

i decided i break easily and moved to the sidewalk

as i moved on and the day passed, what at first had been peaceful protest had

changed

cops started batoning folks and verbal abusing and yelling......swooping down

aand grabbing signs, grabbing ppl's bikes...

they were letting major media folks walk thru, but arresting other media....

so..i beat it...

bleh

rebecca is in berkeley at the code pink protest...

I think that the population is unfortunately loosing interest and apathetic towards the subject of Iraq.

Glad you and Rebecca are involved.

There was a demonstration in London last Saturday, with about 50,000

people protesting about the war. That's not too bad considering that

it has been going on for five years.

Unfortunately the media does not report many of the demonstrations,

particularly ones against the war and ones for animal rights. Yet

when the pro-hunting people held a demonstration it was in the media

for weeks!
