Enjoy Easter without cruelty, animal rights group urges

Easter is traditionally a time for lashings of chocolate goodies, spring eggs and roast lamb – but a Kent firm is reminding families they don’t need to enjoy the holiday at the expense of our furry friends.Tonbridge-based Animal Aid is encouraging people to try a vegan Easter this year, with dairy-free chocolate eggs and bunnies and other ‘animal-free’ food products.Campaigns Officer Kelly Slade said: “‘Easter doesn’t have to include animal suffering, which is why Animal Aid sells vegan chocolate eggs.“With ethical consumerism on the increase, it is now quite common to find dairy-free Easter eggs in most supermarkets and health food shops. “And as there are now so many vegan alternatives, it’s easy to have a cruelty-free Easter. So why not set a good ‘egg-sample’ this Easter and go vegan?â€A free Go Vegan guide including shopping, cooking and nutrition tips, as well

as dairy-and-egg-free recipes and products, is available from Animal Aid at www.animalaid.org.uk.
