Guest guest
Lorraine mentioned cheese being hard to give up. I would like to add a perspective to that thought. As I mentioned in my intro a few days ago, removing dairy was the first change I made to my diet. It was hard! I used to love macaroni and cheese, broccoli and cheese, cottage cheese, and even cheese sticks. But they caused me endless indigestion, often keeping me up at night. During the first few months, I tried to sneak in slivers of cheesecake or milk chocolate...bad idea! So I took care of my body and stayed away from cheese and milk. After a couple of years, I noticed that I didn't crave these things any more. My tastes had changed. I craved new things - kamut spiral pasta, steamed broccoli with salt and olive oil, hummus, and sometimes dark chocolate. :-) It's now been seven years since I gave up dairy and I have no more cravings. There is hope! :-) --Pamela

Guest guest
lucky for me i never liked cheese, and developed a severe allergy to it early on in my lil life..... (sadly, that didn't stop my step mother from serving it) supposedly there are "better" vegany cheeses on the market nowadays, but since i never really liked the real stuff, i tend to steer clear of most of it The "not-a ricotta" house cheese from lanesplitters (local pizza) place was passable to good, but, you have to order it here. hopefully they still use organic vegan sugar (haven't been there in a year or so, and that was an issue now and again) pdenchfield Jun 16, 2008 9:43 AM giving up cheese - changing tastes Lorraine mentioned cheese being hard to give up.
