Riverside Drive in Clarksville This new vegan and vegetarian-friendly restaurant and tea house inhabits the old Widow's Walk Ice Creamery building in Clarksville, a picturesque Victorian building with a pretty garden and great view of downtown Louisville across the river. (The Widow's Walk is still in business seasonally, from a stall behind the building.) A friend and I dropped by for lunch on a recent cool and sunny day and took a seat at one of the cute patio tables on the porch to enjoy the weather and the view. Both hot and iced tea are available and the menu is long and interesting, with many herbal blends as well as standard green, black and oolong -- all made with the restaurant's specially purified water, the menu informed us. I ordered a blood orange tea ($1.99) and my friend ordered a 10-hour infused yerba mate ($4.50). Standard, less expensive infusions are available also, but we were curious to try this specialty. We ordered both hot, with honey, and they were intensely flavored and delicious -- if a bit sweet for our tastes (they came already sweetened). Cup of Sunshine's menu is geared toward a health-food audience, with long explanations about ingredients and options for finicky eaters, with some concessions made for omnivores looking for a simple lunch. I opted for the vegan version of the veggie pita pizza ($6.99), which came with a choice of three vegetable toppings and soy cheese. My friend ordered a salmon burger ($7.99) which came with chips and a pickle. Both were simple but tasty. Our check was $21.96, and with tax and a $5 tip, totaled $28.50, a bit pricey for a simple lunch but we enjoyed the good view, great tea and vegan options. We were satisfied.
