Guest guest
Published: July 17, 2008 6:00 PM Updated: July 17, 2008 7:13 PM On Tuesday, at 5:30 and 7:30 p.m., The Great Escape restaurant at 2744 Dunsmuir Ave. in Cumberland will host this month’s Earthsave vegan dineout, which is open to everyone. For two years, The Great Escape has continued to provide quality Indian food with hand-roasted spice blends and fresh, organic, local ingredients. With many vegetarian options on the menu, they have made dining memorable with items such as papadam cigars, masala wadas and a vegan chocolate truffle cake. Nicola and Jean-François of The Great Escape will host the vegan dine out with the following menu: • Puri Baji — an Indian bread that puffs up when fried is served with potato baji (organic new potatoes, curry leaves, mustard seeds and spices). • Organic Beet Sabzi — a delicious savoury way to eat beets. Cooked in the style of Central India with fenugreek, ginger and cumin. • Organic Chick Pea and Apple Salad rounds out the meal. This meal will be served on thalis (individual stainless steel platters) and will be all-organic. For dessert there will be a vegan fair-trade chocolate truffle cake with tea or coffee. All this including taxes and tip is only $15. The evening is by reservation only. To reserve, call Bob at 250-338-0751. Peter vv Not happy with your email address?
