Guest guest
Another question - about a gardenia this time. I have a gardenia on my desk at work. I can't keep it at home because the temperature varies too much for it. Anyhow, it has lovely glossy leaves, and is growing new leaves. There are two flower buds which have been there for about four months, but they don't seem to swell and I'm wondering if it will actually flower. Any hints/information? Guest guest
It's getting plenty of light - but not too near the window so it's not in direct sun. The temperature is fairly stable, about 22 degrees C. I don't know about the soil. I want to put it in a bigger pot eventually, but am hoping to wait until after it flowers. Guest guest
Do gardenias normally do well in the UK? They're notoriously temperamental. Several years ago gardenweb had a " suicidal gardenia " thread -- people's funny experiences trying to get gardenias to survive and bloom. I saved it but it's long, about 160k. I knew nothing about them when I grew one in a pot on a balcony for about 5 years. I did nothing special, and it bloomed regularly. Maybe if I had known how touchy they are, it wouln't've bloomed! Guest guest
LOL - it probably wouldn't have bloomed :-) I had heard they were difficult. I live in hope that mine will bloom - I'll let you know if it does. Jo , yarrow wrote: > > Do gardenias normally do well in the UK? They're notoriously > temperamental.
