Guest guest
Hey everyone, I have another block party for you. This time it’s at Common Roots Café, a restaurant that is, according to their site, 90% local, organic, and fair trade. They also make a killer fried green tomato sandwich, so if you see it on their rotating menu, be sure to order one. This Saturday marks the one–year anniversary of the locally and environmentally–minded restaurant opening in Uptown (2558 Lyndale Ave. S.). Outside on their porch and parking lot from 2 p.m. to 9 p.m. Common Roots will be celebrating their birthday with a free party. There will be live music, family activities, and locally–raised meats and produce on the grill. Other intriguing events include an heirloom tomato tasting, as well as local beer and wine sampling. When not throwing outdoor street parties, Common Roots Café meets a variety of needs. Their rotating menu includes salads, tasty bagels, sandwiches, free–trade coffee, and even vegan–friendly desserts and sandwiches. It’s also a casual place to have a beer or some wine while studying or enjoying some free WiFi on your laptop. For more info on the space, visit www.commonrootscafe.com.
