no, my

point was that every us president has done what bush has done

every US president

has stood behind turkey and stepped away from any mention of genocide of the

armenians (or kurds)

much more politic to pretend it never happened, then

we can have military bases and missiles i n turkey...

Dear fraggle;

I so sincerely hope that you did not mean that since every

other US

president has denied the existence of the first genocide of the 20th

century, then it must have not happened.

I apologize in advance because I hope I am wrong, wrong, wrong.

Including murdering my father’s entire family in Turkey

between 1898-1918. And announcing to the world that they never did.

And President Bush supporting this lie by the Turkish government in order to

maintain military bases in Turkey

and keep them from attacking the Kurds in Northern

Iraq. Which they of course, turned around and

attacked anyway. I have Turkish friends-but you could not pay me enough

to set foot in Turkey.

When a reporter asked Hitler how he could get away with killing Jews, he

laughed and asked, “After all, who remembers the Armenians?”

We remember.

Sorry. Snarl.

i know beer is

your goal, but i think italy is

the go to place for traveling. you should be able to get a decent amount of

vegan pastas in restaraunts, and their delis will keep you well stocked too.

i always urge european travellers to go to turkey. food will be tough but

doable (i got by fine as a vegetarian 10 years ago), and efes is a fine

national beer (but that's about it); well, here's a page on the subject:

http://www.turkeytravelplanner.com/details/Food/Beers.html

the country is (was?) dead cheap and super friendly. of course, there is that

little situation going on with turkey's neighbor that might give you second

thoughts....

Europe

ok, some how,

some way, we are heading back across the pond next spring

we plan on coming on back to europe

next april

we'll be spending a week in Bremen

Germany,

and then plan on having a week or two to do " something else "

now, where do we go is the question. any ideas? we've done belgium

twice now. do we go back and hot places we missed the last time around? (namur,

orval, etc) do we stay in deutschland? i've been all over germany,

butt hat was over a decade ago, and not with rebecca.

go somewhere else where neither of us has been? denmark?

any ideas?

any comments?

great continental places with yummy veganny food?

places we have to see?

places too avoid

sorry, Ukers, doesn't look like we'll be visiting the Islands. love to go back to Bath and London,

but, just not in the cards this time, trains cost a bundle to go thru and

tube, and our time will be limited.

now, for those

whoe have just joined, or don't really kow rebecca and myself, we aren't the

touristy types. we like underground, we like going off the beaten path for

hidden gems, we love nature, we love cities.

and of course

everything revolves around beer

beer beer beer beer

that being said:

we have little to no interest in paris and/or france...maybe southern france

some other trip, but not this time

neither of us is much into pilsners, so that pretty much kills czech republic

no amsterdam,

boring last time around, been there twice, we're done now. (tho, there's

other palces in holland)

we'll be getting around by eurail

we love beer

we love beer

too bad its in april

brrrrrrrrrr

now, how are we gonna afford this is a whole other kettle of tofu

but, the gauntlet has been thrown

where there's a whip there's a way
