Bamboo Hut, 1394 Main St., Worcester. 508-754-1755. Vegan-friendly, Vietnamese. Not 100 percent vegetarian. Has vegetarian options featuring meat-substitutes and will modify non-veggie dishes. Closed Monday and Tuesday.

Big Fresh, 341 Cochituate Road, Framingham. 508-879-7000. Vegan-friendly, eclectic/new American. Not 100 percent vegetarian. However, they have the a great vegan falafel hummus wrap. Buddha Hut, 415 Chandler St., Worcester. 508-459-0367. Vegan, Chinese. Worcester vegan restaurant serving vegetarian Chinese cuisine. Open Monday to Thursay, from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m., Friday and Saturday, from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m., closed Sunday.

City Feed and Supply, 66 Boylston St., Jamaica Plain. 617-524-1657. Vegan-friendly, Take-out. Not 100 percent vegetarian. Open from 10:30 a.m. to 7 p.m. serves sandwiches to order. Includes several vegan/vegetarian sandwiches.

Grasshopper, 1 N. Beacon St., Allston. 617-254-8883. Monday - Thursday, 11 a.m. - 10 p.m.; Friday - Sunday, 11 a.m. - 11 p.m. All vegan Asian cuisine. Grasshopper's spring rolls just might be the best in the state. Extensive menu includes vegetables, noodles, tofu and mockmeat dishes.

Grezzo, 69 Prince St., Boston. 857-362-7288. Raw food, vegan, organic. Raw food restaurant offering an ever-changing menu of raw vegan organic food. Open Wednesday through Sunday, from 5 to 11 p.m.Herrell's Renaissance Cafe, 155 Brighton Ave., Allston. 617-782-9599. Caters to ovo- and lacto-vegetarians, also vegan-friendly.Not 100 percent vegetarian. Coffee and ice cream shop that has vegetarian and vegan options, soy milk for coffee, tofutti cream cheese for bagels, tofurkey sandwiches, vegan lentil soup, and sometimes vegan ice cream. Wifi. Open Monday through Saturday, from 7 a.m. to 11 p.m., Sunday, from 8 a.m. to 11 p.m.

Hudson Street Market, 68 Hudson St., Providence. 401-274-4540. Located in the Armory District. The vegetarian sandwich on an entire loaf of Italian bread gets rave reviews from every vegetarian who's ordered it. Meat-eaters have a lot of options here as well.

India, 20 Main St., Warren, R.I. Open daily Sunday through Thursday, from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m., Friday and Saturday, until 11 p.m., Sunday brunch, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. 401-245-4500. Bar and outdoor garden patio. Vegetarian dishes, kabobs, seafood and specialty cocktails. Live entertainment on weekends along with belly dancing.

The Ivy Tavern, 758 Hope St., Providence. 401-421-3888. Open Monday through Thursday, from 5 to 10 p.m.; Friday and Saturday, from 5 to 11 p.m. and Sunday, from 5 to 8 p.m. The Ivy Tavern isn't 100 percent vegetarian, but the "Accidental Purist" is a tasty veggie burger smothered in melted brie, green apple and onion jam.

Jose's Mexican Restaurant, 131 Sherman St., Cambridge. 617-354-0335. Caters to ovo- and lacto-vegetarians, but is also vegan-friendly. Mexican. Not 100 percent vegetarian. Has vegetarian versions of many entrees. Veggie burritos, enchiladas, quesadillas, zucchnini tacos, veggie fajitas, potato flauta, spinach and cheese tostadas, veggie chimichangas, and chile rellenos fried, or baked. Open Monday through Thursday, 11 a.m. to 10 p.m., Friday and Saturday, from 11 a.m. to midnight, and Sunday, from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m.

Julian's, 318 Broadway, Providence. 401-861-1770. Caters to ovo- and lacto-vegetarians, but is also vegan-friendly. Eceltic American. Not 100 percent vegetarian. Vegetarian options such as tempeh-sausage and tofu scramble. Soymilk and vegan options available. Open daily from 9 a.m. Great drinks, too.

Louis Restaurant, 286 Brook St., Providence. 401-861-5225. Caters to ovo- and lacto-vegetarians. American. Not 100 percent vegetarian. Diner with a few vegan options including vegan pancakes, tofu scramble, soy milk for coffee at no extra charge, and fresh fruit.

Masao's Kitchen, 581 Moody St., Waltham. 781-647-7977. International cuisine buffet. Serves macrobiotic and vegan cuisine including desserts. Open Monday through Saturday, noon to 7:30 p.m., closed Sunday. McCoy Stadium, Pawtucket, R.I., isn't just home of the Pawtucket Red Sox, it's home of veggie dogs, Gardenburgers, veggie trays, veggie wraps and fruit smoothies. All are good options for the non-carnivorous crowd and have earned McCoy recognition as one of the best vegetarian-friendly ballparks in the country.

My Thai Vegetarian Cafe, 404 Harvard St., Brookline. 617-739-8830. Vegan-friendly. Thai and Chinese. Extensive menu. Uses mockmeats in many dishes. Open Monday through Thursday, noon to 10 p.m., Friday and Saturday, noon to 11 p.m.

T.J. Scallywaggle's Vegan House of Pizza & Subs, 487 Cambridge Ave., Allston. T.J.'s features a completely vegan menu, serving up subs such as the Grassgrazer Veggie with Cheese and the Rohst Beaf Cold Cut, but by far T.J. Scallywaggle's pizzas and calzones are what keeps vegetarians, vegans and meat-eaters alike coming back for more. T.J.'s offers up nine specialty pizzas and eight calzones, including Maggie's Meetbahl pizza and Diego's Fajita pizza, which comes with chikhin, onions, peppers and hot peppers.
