Guest guest
Vegans Heart Kittens Posted by Patrick Alan Coleman on Fri, Oct 17 at 11:02 AM Would you eat cornbread and homemade vegan sausage stuffed acorn squash for this kitty? Acclaimed vegan cookbook author, Isa Chandra Moskowitz, will be preparing a four course dinner, next Friday at Sweet Pea Bakery, to benefit House of Dreams, Portland's no kill cat shelter. Tickets for the meal are on a sliding scale from $40 to $100. The menu looks amazing: SoupWhite Bean And Roasted GarlicA puree of navy beans and sweet smoky roasted garlic with leeks and fresh herbs SaladGolden Beet And ShallotWarm roasted golden beets and baby greens in a creamy vinaigrette with caramelized shallots and a handful of toasted walnuts MainAutumn PlateCornbread and homemade sausage stuffed acorn squash, smoky grilled tempeh in a wild mushroom ragout served with garlicky purple kale DessertCaramelized ApplesWarm apples in a caramelized maple sauce, served with crisp gingerbread shortbread and topped with homemade coconut based vanilla bean ice creamYum! If you're vegan, you should jump at this chance. If you're vegan curious, this is a perfect excuse to see how good a meal free of animal products can taste. Need more coaxing? Here's what you'll be supporting: House of Dreams is the only cat shelter in the Portland area where the cats are allowed to live out their natural lives in a free roam environment. Our mission is to find loving, responsible homes for our kitties with the policy being that they are indoor only companions. As we do not discriminate based on age or medical history, many of our cats are what some would call "difficult to adopt". Some of these older, medically challenged cats will spend the rest of their lives at House of Dreams (and we are happy to have them!). At the shelter they have friends (human and feline), regular meals, and quality medical care. Think of it as "assisted living" for cats. Info on how to buy tickets for this event is available at the Post Punk Kitchen Blog. Peter vvSend instant messages to your online friends http://uk.messenger. For in a Republic, who is “the country Is it the Government which is for the moment in the saddle? Why, the Government is merely a servant—merely a temporary servant; it cannot be its prerogative to determine what is right and what is wrong, and decide who is a patriot and who isn’t. Its function is to obey orders, not originate them. Mark Twain
