We had loads of rain yesterday, and gales! I got soaked through at lunchtime, and then when I was almost dried out there was a fire alarm and we all had to go out in the rain and gales again! So - I was soaked once again.

How is everyone else fairing with their weather?

Not me - my favorite weather is cool and windy. Rain doesn't ruin it either. Perfect days for long walks, coming home to an nice pot of hot tea. Sheer bliss to me.

I agree with that. If the rain is coming stgraight down you can keep reasonably dry, but when it blows from all angles ......

For in a Republic, who is “the country Is it the Government which is for the moment in the saddle? Why, the Government is merely a servant—merely a temporary servant; it cannot be its prerogative to determine what is right and what is wrong, and decide who is a patriot and who isn’t. Its function is to obey orders, not originate them.

I like cooler weather too, so summer is my favorite season here. In

the past couple weeks or so, I've finally accepted that summer is

over (it's getting cold). Actually, my favorite time of year is

anytime I can go to the garden and eat whatever's in season,

especially berries. This week it was a handful of raspberries, a

bunch of baby dinosaur kale, a pint of 5 different types of tomatoes,

some parsley, a few borage flowers, an echinacea petal or two, a

sprig of mint, and some strawberries.

Usually I have tomatoes until the beginning of December, when

nighttime frost does them in, so this year I'm going to make some

bubblewrap " greenhouses " to protect them and see how long I can

stretch the season. I have some August-planted tomatoes that are just

starting to produce, and several other plants that still look dense

and healthy. I'll still have to pick my potatoes before then, though.

someone will hear you and get the brilliant idea to put up giant sky gutters that divert rain. then we'll have to pay a rain bill.

Yeah it rains a lot, but not as much as people think it does. It'll

rain for days on end and then we'll get weeks without it. A couple of

years ago we were close to a record and we had counted 33 days

straight of rain! Horrible...
