For More Information On The Vegan Dinner The Chicago Diner at 3411 North Halsted Street has sold out three seating's. Owner Mickey Hornick says there may be a few last minute cancellations.The vegetarian restaurant offers a fairly traditional Thanksgiving dinner, minus the turkey. In its place a Roasted Veggie Turkey made from tofu.Hornick says they mix the tofu with typical turkey spices, roll it out, wrap it around an herb stuffing and roast.There's also a holiday raw plate, featuring a nut-based loaf with wild mushroom gravy in place of turkey.Hornick says their annual Vegan Thanksgiving normally sells out, but this year it sold out earlier than ever and set a new record for take out orders.He says about half their clientele is NOT hard core vegetarian and says people just want to eat healthy foods.
