Guest guest
Wow, that massive breast surgery was hard to get over. I was coming out of a school I visit teach in, and all of a sudden, I heard gunfire, as in POWPOWPOW. NEAR THE SCHOOL. I STOOD THERE THINKING WHAT TO DO. In Prince George’s County, being a tough urban school, the objective was to hit the dirt. I had no idea what the rule was in West Virginia. It was deer hunting season. Some of the kids were out of school to “bag their first deer”. I asked about this at my home base and they told me to not wear white during deer season. They justified this by telling me that the deer were in rutting season and there were too many of them. Barf. Cynthia
Guest guest
Welcome back. When I lived in the midwest, I loved riding my bicycle on the roller-coaster hills outside town, until the day when I saw some boys carrying rifles that were taller than they were. And then there was the day I was hiking and came across a pickup with a " god guns and guts " bumper sticker. And then I noticed the gun racks on the pickups. Guest guest
Hi I'm glad you are back and hope you are feeling a lot better now. It is a major operation. There's always an excuse for killing off the animals! I hate it when they are shooting in the field at the end of our garden. Guest guest
I'm on the same block as an elementary school here in PA and three soccerfields visible from my backyard in the county park (filled with kids during sports season). There is gunfire all the time here: one neighbor fires at any groundhog he finds in his yard, while others take potshots at the raccoons and opposum. One of the beautiful bucks that sometimes sleeps in our backyard was found in my neighbor's backyard with a " practice " arrow through his chest. He had stumbled through the yards all day, they said, before he expired near their bird feeders that he used to check for extra birdseed at night. Jackasses. They had a series of articles on the local paper about the possible demise of hunting here in suburban southwestern PA. Part of the complaint was that there simply wasn't enough " game " --the populations are declining and hunters aren't having the same " luck " any more. The hunters that they interviewed were complaining about not being able to teach the younger generation a " valued male tradition " . In addition to the population decline of game animals, they complained that the average kid today isn't interested in hunting--they'd much rather be surfing the internet or playing electronic games. Smart kids. The article interviewed game management personnel who said the only way for the animal populations to rebound would be to leave the habitat forests alone for approximately 20 years, as well as to require hunters to leave off hunting for a while to allow populations to replenish. They weren't hopeful, though, because there's always some here trying to shoot anything that moves (regardless of the rules), and we're not likely to see our forests left alone as long as money can be made from them. I like the bumper stickers that say " Forget the right to bear arms...just arm the bears! "
