Guest guest
Come and join in the fun at Animal Aid’s 16th Annual Christmas Without Cruelty Fayre at Kensington Town Hall, on Sunday 30th November, from 10.00 until 17.00. Our keynote speakers this year will be inspiring campaigner Peter Tatchell and Green MEP Jean Lambert. You can also hear about an eventful year for the Sea Shepherd organisation, while Mark Gold will be talking about and signing copies of his first novel, Cranks and Revolutions. Another highlight will be the presentation of the 2008 Vegan Environmental Awards. There will be more than 85 stands – all promoting charities, campaign groups and ethical traders who are trying to make a real difference in the world. Have a wonderful shopping spree safe in the knowledge that no products have been tested on animals or include any animal ingredients. Help animals, the environment, and reduce your carbon footprint, by purchasing goods which have made the least impact on our planet in their production. Goods on sale include chocolates, cruelty-free toiletries and cosmetics, non-leather boots and shoes, recycled and fair-trade goods, environmentally-friendly clothing, plus seasonal gifts and cards. Shambhu's will be serving hot meals, snacks and treats, plus fair trade organic teas & coffees, and organic cold drinks. Or try The Indian Kitchen’s feast with a Mediterranean flavour and Rainforest Creations’ fantastic flavours of the Caribbean. Veggies Catering will be serving vegan homemade cakes, hot snacks, drinks, teas and coffees. In addition to the wonderful vegan food, enjoy lectures, videos, a live auction of celebrity items, and even the kids are catered for with face-painting, a children’s workshop and creche. The ever-popular Press-ups Competition is back, so do take part. Celebrity Auction This year, at the celebrity live auction, the lively Noel Lynch will be wielding his gavel, and kicking off the proceedings at 2.30pm in the downstairs foyer. Items up for auction this year include: Signed photo and costume jewellery worn by Barbara Windsor as 'Peggy' in Eastenders Signed photo of all the Dragon's from Dragon's Den. There are only 20 of these in circulation in the whole world! Signed photo of Martin Shaw in costume from his new TV show 'Apparitions' Signed photo of Pete Townshend from The Who 'My Booky Wook' signed by Russell Brand Stella McCartney's sexy sunglasses in a signed case Dress and signed book from supermodel Marie Helvin 'Lyrics' signed by Sting There are many more items up for auction including signed photos and vouchers from ethical food, clothing and wine companies. Don’t forget – 2.30pm in the downstairs foyer! Web Clinic Imaner Consultants, who design and maintain Animal Aid's own on-line shop, will be holding a Web Clinic at the Fayre and will be offering free consultations on web design and development.
