Guest guest
Hello fellow vegans! I am currently a dog walker and pet sitter. I have been doing this for almost 10 year! I love walking the dogs and visiting all the animals, but I'm getting bored. So, I'm interested to know what all of you do for a living? I've been pondering the idea of something on the nutrition, wellness, vegan, etc., kind of path...but what? I have a degree in Social Welfare/Criminology. I worked in domestic violence and realized life is too short to be sad so i started my pet business! I'm going to be 39 in March and I';m not getting any younger. Any suggestions? I'd appreciate any ideas you all have! Thanks Danielle

Guest guest
I love dog walking. My husband and I volunteer at our local shelter and do dog walking. It's how we met actually. I currently work at a 211 community info line. We direct people to resources such as shelter, food, clothing, legal asst., financial asst., etc. I'm in charge of the legal program/referrals we do for the community. Previously I've worked at the 211 in San Diego, I worked providing assistance to Job Corps students who were leaving Job Corps and moving back into their community, I've also worked with juvenile offenders at one of the state's juvenile prisons, and I've worked retail here and there. I'm currently a grad student in criminal justice and will be have my degree in about 3 weeks. I will also be searching for a new career. debra , " natenjade " <lilbugga wrote: > > Hello fellow vegans! > I am currently a dog walker and pet sitter. I have been doing this for almost 10 year! Guest guest
My recomendation is to do a career test and then put your effort where your heart lies. This is one career evaluation site, but there are many. http://www.livecareer.com/home.aspx You may also want to keep your current job, while you polish your skills in your spare time with an online degree. Everyone whom I've met who has gotten a degree online, says that it works out well. My Jobs I went straight to wallstreet after graduating college in the 90's worked for citybank and jpmorgan. This was in their heyday when the company paid for your lunch..etc. The money was good, but I felt emotionaly bankrupt and creatively deficient. empty. The people there were cut throat. I quit in 2000. I needed to be around kind, creative, artistic people. I then got a job at the Metropolitan Opera house at lincoln center. There the salary was low. But I so happy. I loved it there. People were expresive, original and crazy. I made a lot of friends in the gay community, since almost everyone employed at the Met is gay. I had friends who were make-up artists, wig specialists, costume designers, actors etc. The American Ballet Theatre also danced there. I was surrounded by Musicians from symphonies, Jazz artists. Many of whom I was so naive to not even realized that they were famous. Then around 2004, my little boy started showing signs of stress. He was chewing on his shirt. My husband was never home because he was manager at the Park Avenue showroom of Mercedes-Benz. He was in Stuttgart, Germany when our baby took his first steps. We decided to move to the suburbs where life was less hectic. We like a warm climate but I had never lived in any other state beside new york. In 2005, we saw an article about a town in florida that was nice to live in. We sold our co-op and bought a house over the internet. Here I got a job as a translator for government, such as the cdc, the epa but I missed new york. When I went back to visit my mother, I got offered a job at PBS. I stayed in new york for a year but this caused a lot of strain and arguments in our marriage. I came back and I am now working for PBS out of my bedroom in florida, so it worked out well. What's next? I would like to take writing classes which will make me a writer. My goal is to someday be published. It is never ever too late. You are never too old. Pablo Picasso painted a picture the night before before he died. he was in his 90's. Anouk
