last nite we built a " greenhouse " on the back deck.

basically just screwed and hinged some old windows together into a boxy type

shape

see how well it works.

unfortunately a lot of the back just doesn't get enough sun this time of year,

since they built the bloody townhouses behind us...

but, we gave it a go

 

plum tree is in full bloom.

makes the few bees happy (well, that and the pineapple sages)...

speaking of pineapple sages..they have been a site for a battle royale for over

a week now between three hummers...the lil guys gak gak gak at each other and

zoom back and forth divebombing. the sage bushes are a prime central location.

that and the north side of the plum tree. good vantage point i guess.

 

collard, chard and kale bounced back, sorta, from the depridations of the

cats...

have several collard plants trying desperately to send up a bunch of new growth.

very crisp and tasty right now.

 

harvested some new potatoes yesterday....by mistake...

was pulling up weeds and blackberry canes beside one of the raised beds, and

ploop..up come a bunch of little potatoes...half went into the raised beds, the

others ended up along side breakfast this morn....

 

replanted some herbs in pots, since the garden ones took a beating from the

cats, and random dog tramplings. seem t obe doing nicely

 

and, picked up a wine half barrel yesterday. $18! gonna make a nice planter

right now it just makes the everything by the front door smell like a winery

tho.
