Guest guest
March is Nutrition Month "Intelligence" vitamin linked to better memory and brain function Current CIHR-funded study: Western diets are not only making us obese, they could also be dulling our brains. Part of the problem may be a lack of nutrients, including vitamin K, says Dr. Guylaine Ferland, a researcher at the University of Montreal. Dr. Ferland has found that rats deprived of vitamin K begin showing cognitive deficiencies as they age. Her current research is also examining how even mild nutrient deficiencies contribute to cognitive impairment during aging, and what diet our brain needs to stay healthy into old age. Did you know? Vitamin K is only available by prescription since it can interfere with anticoagulant drugs. However, it is found naturally in green vegetables (such as spinach, cabbage and broccoli), soy, green tea leaves and fresh or dried herbs.
