Guest guest
I have one, and I love it, but I use it almost exclusively only to make my morning fruit drink. However, once I used it to blend a soup to get a creamy consistency without the cream, and OH MY GOD, did that work so much better than a blender! - DJ-----------------------Always remember: Today's mighty oak is simplyyesterday's nut that held its ground... Guest guest
It is. I don't know much about them but it is described as a blender on steroids, lol, you can use whole fruits and veggies to make smoothies, juices, hot soups, make soy ice cream, sorbets, nut butters, knead dough, and so much more. The draw for me is incorporating more fresh fruits and veggies without all the fuss of preparing a salad or meal. They range from 300 to 450 dollars, so I would like some real advice from an owner. It has gotten rave reviews from what I have read.--- On Tue, 3/10/09, jo.heartwork <jo.heartwork wrote: jo.heartwork <jo.heartworkRe: Vita-Mix Date: Tuesday, March 10, 2009, 5:58 PM I have not heard of them. Guest guest
It's been advertised a lot, a super-powerful juicer/blender. I think it was $300 the last time I paid attention to an ad, and it may be a lot more now. I don't have an opinion, except that I use a hand blender rather than the other kind because (1) it's so much easier to clean and (2) it takes up so much less space and (3) it does everything I need a blender to do: mostly hummus and baba ghanouj, occasional applesauce or soup (purees soup right in the soup pot, so I don't have to pour hot liquids back and forth!), etc. Aside from the regular blender, I have several other pieces of kitchen equipment that I rarely get around to using because I don't have any counter space in my tiny kitchen: rice cooker, juicer, manual mandoline, etc. To use one of these, I have to clear the stovetop and not use the stove for a while (electric burners)! So I think that if you do have counter space and you can keep it where it will be convenient to use and where you see it every day, you will be more likely to use it. Also, if it speeds up food prep or enables you to make foods instead of buying ready-made, that's always a good thing. I guess I did have an opinion after all. Quelle surprise. Guest guest
We went to a Home & Garden show over the weekend and they were hawking the Vita-Mix blenders for $440. Refurbished for $390. My blender is horrible and my juicer just died, so if you do decide to get one, please let me know what you think--and especially if you think it's worth the exorbitant price. , yarrow wrote: > > It's been advertised a lot, a super-powerful juicer/blender. Oh, and you can make your own " ice cream " out of fruit! LOVE IT! Danielle , " veggiemomma4 " <veggiemomma4 wrote: > > Does anyone have one of these ?
