Guest guest
LOL - they have in the UK - it's printed on all the packets, and now they are not allowed to display the cigarettes for sale. The almighty dollar always speaks the loudest around this nation. Disgustingly true. Oh and I'm sorry, they did do a bit of something to cigarettes. Guest guest
Oh, and pork, well not that I go looking at the meat sections of the food stores anymore but I haven't seen nor heard anything about any restrictions or even advice on regulations on pork. Still too much money to be made on the slaughter of swine. Guest guest
I guess I'm naive! LOL. I was naively hoping that someone influential from the government would come out and say that there's a connection between factory farms and flu outbreaks so let's (cut down, or even eliminate) factory farm " foods " . People are scared enough or even paranoid now about the spread of this flu, but they are not interested in changing anything. oh well. Guest guest
I wonder why people still eat any animal flesh when there is such a lot of bad things that come from it. o Re: Re: Lung cancer and pork too not the same but

And actually, having spoken to people about my recent switch to a vegetarian diet (working on vegan and doing pretty well, actually) and listening to them, I suspect it is not just me. Fear. Fear of the unknown, fear of "what will I eat?" fear of "giving up" meat, fear of missing certain things. I put off going veg for YEARS because of fear. I was terrified - I thought that i would miss certain things too much. And really, I have missed specific things at times - like the first time we went to PF Changs after eliminating meat from our diet. I got one whiff of their Kung Pao Chicken and got really nostalgic. But I reminded myself why I no longer choose to eat meat and that did the trick. I tried the Ma Po Tofu from their vegetarian menu and loved it! My husband did, too. So one door closes, another opens, but a lot of people don't view it that way. Again, fear. And yes, you would think that the fear of the bad things associated with meat would be the slap in the face needed, but it's really hard to just push aside what you've been raised with. Guest guest
<I wonder why people still eat any animal flesh when there is such a lot of bad things that come from it.> Because most people have grown up their entire lives being told and believing that they cannot live without meat in their diets. It's sad, but there is probably little that can be done to covince them otherwise. Most of my friends think I'm crazy for not eating meat. Guest guest
I guess that is the case. Someone where I work couldn't believe that a human being could live without milk!!! Guest guest
Revelation :-) The person I mentioned here has apparently been using soya milk for the last three weeks, after going to a Patrick Holford seminar. I am so surprised. She didn't believe me, but now she knows. It's almost a hallelujah situation :-) She is still a meat eater, but I do feel this is one step in the right direction from someone who seemed set on drinking cow milk for the rest of her life.
