Guest guest
A friend once told me he'd tried being vegetarian for 6 months and decided he could never be a vegetarian. Then, a few years later, he'd read the John Robbins book IIRC and maybe some others, and e-mailed to say he'd gone vegan!! I think that when people make always/never statements, something is set in motion that makes them reconsider, or maybe to pay attention and realize it's all shades of gray. I generally stay away from absolutes, but when I do catch myself using always/never, I tend to observe myself doing the opposite of what I said within the week. (Of course, it's different to say " I'm vegan " as a statement of fact vs. to say " I never/always eat x, " which sounds conditional or (oddly) provisional to me. The always/never statement has the flavor of " methinks the lady doth protest too much. " ) At 5:53 PM +0000 4/30/09, heartwerk wrote: >Revelation :-) The person I mentioned here has apparently been >using soya milk for the last three weeks, after going to a Patrick >Holford seminar.
