Guest guest
I just wanted to say that having read this post I am so happy to find a miscommunicated question/ concern about being vegan turn out well. I am a member of a few groups and have after watching several discussions go wrong have gone into lurking mode to avoid being flamed. Everyone voiced their opinons/ concerns about the first email but I think it ended well. So thank you for being good to one another and I just wanted to add that I started with Being Vegan it is a great book there is also The Starving Students Vegetarian Cookbook. I know it is not vegan but I was able to take the recipes and make them vegan easily. What was crucial for me when I started was to find a cookbook that I could understand and ingridients I could find locally (i lived in an area that did not have a wide variety of veggies). I found the key for me to maintain a vegan diet was finding items I could cook in a language I could understand. Now that I have mastered the basics I am able to venture out with new more " exciting " options available. It also helps that we have moved to a larger city. I wish everyone all the best. Guest guest
Thanks, I got lucky because I found these Dr. John Mcdougal cd sets at a garage sale my soccer team had as a fund raiser. I snagged them for ten bucks. I want to watch them and try a bunch of them. I was telling Dave that just a couple hours ago. keria_jones <keria_jones Sent: Monday, June 22, 2009 4:19:51 PM Re: worried about being too skinny - THANKS I just wanted to say that having read this post I am so happy to find a miscommunicated question/ concern about being vegan turn out well. Guest guest
I think it is important to start with, to get cookery books specially for vegans, so that you know what sort of ingredients to use, and how to go about vegan cooking. After a while, we found we could veganise lots of 'normal' recipes too. I still prefer the vegan cookery books but haven't had to throw out all my old ones.
