Guest guest
Hi Asia The problem I have is the fact that you asked the question, and then dismissed out-of-hand any responses which contradicted your initial implication that soy was bad. Quite simply, you didn't seem interested in hearing any differing views. As has already been explained by fraggle, the soy question is one vegans get battered with constantly, so when someone appears apparently promoting the anti-soy stance, it does grate considerably. And it wouldn't be the first time we've had people appear on the list trying to stir up trouble by asking apparently innocent questions and then trying the anti-vegan stance. It actually happens quite frequently, and as moderators of the list we have learned through experience to be careful of people who appear to do this. I have already suggested that you read the list archives, and would make that recommendation again. If you do so, you will find that your accusations of " high horse know-it-all-behaviour " , and implications that I am not courteous are a little ridiculous. To be frank, on most other lists, the owner would not have let through a post with such accusations aimed at themselves - it is an indication that we allow proper discussion here that this post is allowed through. However, trying to stir up trouble will not be accepted. Now, please take your own advice, and be respectful to other list-members. When you ask a question, take note of the answers, and don't be ungrateful for any views which may contradict what you already believe. We are all trying to help, and I certainly don't appreciate being slapped round the face when I take the time and effort to provide you with information you've requested. Guest guest
I can't say I have read too many of the articles on it, but I do know that I've been eating & drinking a lot of soy products for the last 20+ years and I'm way healthier than my friends and family members who eat meat, and I rarely get sick. The only thing my doctor could find wrong with me is I was low in b12 (she does not know about my diet as I don't want her to bias and blame everything on that!). -Ann asianikuda Tuesday, August 04, 2009 10:50 AM The soy discussion I dont want to offend anyone, but this has been bothering me the last couple days since I became vegan. SO, as im doing my research for vegan protien sources, and soy always comes up. When you google soy, you get lots of articles saying unfermented soy is really bad and so forth. This unfermented soy includes soy milk, tofu, and soy protien. But the articles do say the FERMENTED soy products are safe, and healthy. These include tempeh, miso, and natto. Its seems every vegan recipe calls for tofu, but tofu is unfermented and claimed by many to be dangerous. They say that the healthy asian communities that do eat soy, eat mostly fermented soy, and the stuff being sold here (in the US) is not a health food. There are many articles on this, but heres one such article: http://www.mercola.com/article/soy/index.htmI want to know what you all say about SOY.--Asia-----To send an email to -!
