Guest guest
Can anyone tell me if Blue Bonnet Light margarine is vegan? I have used Earth Balance and like the taste, but it is a little pricey and I have been trying to cut corners lately without compromising my ethics. In the San Francisco bay area, a chain called Grocery Outlet sells overstocks, changed-label foods, close-dated items (that is, close to expiration or sell-by date), etc. (In other parts of the U.S., I've heard people mention similar stores with " salvage " in the name.) It has a small (always different) selection of organic foods. A month or two ago they were selling a container of Earth Balance for $1.50, and in the summer had some pints of Purely Decadent and other frozen desserts for the same price. Other than that, I've found that Whole Foods is a good place to shop if you pay attention to what's on sale and take advantage of the coupon booklets in the store. I almost never spend more than $10 at a time there, and don't even spend that much more than once every couple months.

My husband and I do the bulk of our shopping there because the other stores in our area really aren't very vegan friendly. It's just easier for us. And if you watch the sales, you can plan your meals accordingly and buy what's on sale.Missie Harholdand Gracie the Ibizan Houndand Jeanie the Greyhoundgreyhounddog"Life is as dear to a mute creature as it is to a man.
