A few updates about veg events. After the opening of Vegan Centre in India, I was in Batam, Indonesia to attend the 4th Asian Vegetarian Congress (AVC) from Nov.6 to 10, 2009. It was a well organised event with a lot of public outreach and support. The next (5th) Asian Vegetarian Congress will be in Hangzhou, China in Oct. 2011.With the success of the AVC in Batam, we can expect much more from the 39th World Vegetarian Congress (WVC) from Oct. 1 to 9, 2010 in Jakarta and Bali, Indonesia. On the way to Jakarta, you may plan a stop-over in Dubai, UAE for the First MidEast Veg Congress from Sep.28 to 30, 2010 (dates to be reconfirmed). The 13th International Vegan Festival will be in Turin, Italy in 2011. Meanwhile, before all these, we will have IVU India, South & West Asia Regional Vegetarian Congress on Aug. 13 & 14, 2010 (dates to be confirmed) in Bangalore, India. In addition to all these, Indian Vegan Society will have many events lined up for 2010, the details will be out soon. All these events are vegan and likely to help promote a kinder lifestyle among the general public while the participants can expect some fun and learning experience in the company of likeminded people.Best wishes,Shankar.----------------Vn.Shankar Narayan,President: Indian Vegan Society (www.indianvegansociety.com)Councilor & Regional Coordinator for India, South & West Asia: International Vegetarian Union (www.ivu.org)Founder: Sthitaprajna, Vegan Life Centre."Animals are neither things nor our slaves; they are our rightful co-habitants".
