Guest guest
The ultimate vegan question for me! I've trained on CPR for the last 5 years, I lived in the hills of Northern Idaho, and my family is usually exposed to rugged cold in winter. Now I live in Oregon, and though it's warmer, it rains frequently, turning a mere " coolness " into a downright " chilliness. " The mantra on ski hills (and logging and snowmobiling and cold wintery states) is COTTON KILLS. For a vegan, who no longer wishes to benefit from animals, what do you wear to stave off hypothermia in the cold winter hills? I've looked through many sites, and they all claim " cotton " will keep you warm! But, it can kill you in super cold weather and high activity because it holds moisture close to your skin--creating ripe conditions for hypothermia. Synthetics are effective alternatives, and sometimes better choices over wool--but WHICH ones are environmentally sound? As anyone ever wondered about this before?
