I can't understand the hostility. Do you think that it has to do with judgment? Not so much on our parts, but that they feel they are being judged, so they get defensive from the start. I also home school my son and I seem to get that a lot from parents who choose to send their kids to school. I mean, frankly, I couldn't give a damn if someone else homeschools or not, but boy, they have an opinion about what I do!! And I run into the same hostility when vegan gets mentioned. BTW, homeschooling vegan family is almost an oxymoron!Vicky "Life is as dear to a mute creature as it is to a man. Just as one wants happiness and fears pain, just as one wants to

I don't know if it's necessarily strange per se. In fact it's pretty common.

Many people are simply insecure and take any difference of opinion as an attack.

Others don't understand change and see your way of life to be a challenge to

what they've always been taught. While still others fear anarchy and that you

are a rebel, someone who opposes what they've interpreted from their doctors and

other health care professionals. The FDA, the USDA and other government

authorities have told everyone that they need to eat meat and eggs and drink

milk. You're not doing that so you are WRONG. If you're wrong then that means

Mr. General Public is right! This gives him a chance to point a finger at

someone else so that his own insecurities are not in the limelight. " Nevermind

that I smoke, drink, beat my wife, mentally abuse my children, etc. Look at him,

he's VEGAN! " We live in a world which glorifies the most atrocious behaviors so

it stands to reason that if you oppose any of them then you will be stoned and

crucified. I deal with this type of close-mindedness every time I leave the

house.

LOL - it's amazing how eager some people are to show their stupidity! Someone

at work once said to me 'you can't live without milk, can you?' - my answer was

'well, apparently I can'.

It's interesting you mention this. My husband LOVED milk, well, dairy in

general. Prior to eliminating dairy from our diets, he had persistent sinus

drainage that would wake up the babies during the night when he would clear his

throat (I've been advised that men are incapable of doing this quietly). He was

a sinus spray junkie as a result. We've had trial runs in the past of removing

dairy to see if there was an improvement and there wasbut he would never stick

to it. But now that we've jumped off the deep end and gone vegan (35 days now -

almost feels like a recovery program, LOL) our dear babes remain submerged in

sweet slumber.

I remember reading the story of Daniel, in the Bible, living on vegetables and water for 10 days while the king's men ate their regular rich diet and Daniel and his friends being very healthy at the end of the 10 days and I thought that must be a true miracle.Patricia--- On Tue, 2/16/10, heartwerk <jo.heartwork wrote:heartwerk <jo.heartwork Re: veganism Date: Tuesday, February 16, 2010, 11:44 PMLOL - it's amazing how eager some people are to show their stupidity! I frankly have always hated milk. When I first tried soy milk, it tasted exactly like I thought milk should taste like, and doesn't.On Wed, Feb 17, 2010 at 12:59 PM, fraggle <EBbrewpunx wrote:

I think milk is bad for the whole respiratory system. You may find that the

longer you go without milk, the less severe your asthma becomes.
