Guest guest
Well, that's just disgusting but not surprising. Over the past year, year and a half, so many so called " rescue " organizations are starting to be outed. I run a small animal sanctuary and have been an active volunteer in different organizations for over 20 years now and this is exactly why I do it on my own now. WHENEVER there is money to be made, whether that be earning it from selling animals or by donations, people will abuse it. We have a woman here in British Columbia that has only been in operation for one year, boasts about finding 430 dogs homes and even if this is true she NEVER does interviews or home checks or cares where they go just anybody with money. So, in other words she's just a broker. Another organization pays for all her costs, which means the $400 to $500 that she charges per dog goes straight into her pocket. It's a crap shoot really whether those dogs will be loved and cared for. Already several of them have ended up on Craigslist because no behavioral assessment is ever done on these dogs and lots come with issues because they have already been mistreated. So, the people don't want to keep them after a week and Cold Noses Warm Beds, that's the organization's name, will not take the dog back or refund the money. Now this poor animal is going through another scary process and lots have been put down. There is evidence being gathered to charge her as she claims she is a " rescue " and takes donations, but our laws are very weak here. There are lots of people trying to shut her down but unfortunately here it is not against the law to broker dogs. You just don't know who to trust any more so that's why I do it on my own, on my own dime except recently I have had food donated. If I do adopt one out, like when I had a mother and four pups come into my care because they were thrown out of a truck on the highway, I have people fill out an application and then a home check is done. NONE of these animals are EVER leaving my care unless I know they're going to good people............could be why I'm considered a sanctuary not a rescue because they usually stay with me, LOL. Really, for being the so called " higher species " we sure don't act like it. Jackie
