Guest guest
Wis. woman braves traffic, saves 14 ducklings From Associated Press April 25, 2010 1:06 AM EDT WEST ALLIS, Wis. (AP) — A mother duck didn't survive her walk across a busy Wisconsin roadway, but a motorist made sure the 14 ducklings stayed safe — even one that wiggled under her dashboard. Angela Speed of the Wisconsin Humane Society says the good Samaritan was driving in West Allis, a Milwaukee suburb, on Friday when she saw the newly hatched mallards trying to cross a busy road. The woman told Speed that a vehicle in front of her appeared to intentionally hit the mother duck, leaving her ducklings confused in the middle of the road. The woman gathered each into her car and took them to the Humane Society. But an hour later, she heard a peep. A mechanic took apart her dashboard and found the 14th duckling. Speed says the brood is healthy and expected to survive. ___ On the Net: Wisconsin Humane Society: http://www.wihumane.org/default.aspx Some of my friends sit around every evening And they worry about the times ahead But everybody else is overwhelmed by indifference And the promise of an early bed You either shut up or get cut up, they don't wanna hear about it It's only inches on the reel-to-reel And the radio is in the hands of such a lot of fools Tryin' to anaesthetise the way that you feel Radio Radio
Guest guest
Shame about the mum but she would rather her babies were the ones who survived. Several years ago we were driving across the Yorkshire moors and there were dead lambs all along the road for a couple of miles. They were bloody, obviously hit by a car, and because there were so many it was obvious that a car had been aiming at them – probably to see how many they could get. Some people are so sick.
