Guest guest
It's nasty, all right -- they are just lucky we love them!! I just saw the original post from Kim - I agree with Alexa, cats bodies are just made to need protein from meat, they have even higher protein requirements than other carnivores. Best to discuss diet changes with a vet, though. As far as vegetarian snacks for cats -- HA! I've got two that aren't particularly interested in any food other than cat food, and one that will eat ANYTHING.... I mean, dog food, bread, tortilla chips, soy meat replacements, etc. She'll lick my plate after I'm done eating, if I let her -- no matter what kind of food was on it. She's just a very food-oriented cat. And then I have one that chews on and swallows non-food objects... <sigh.....> Audrey On Tue, Dec 15, 2009 at 6:51 PM, Alexa Hamilton <avhpmc wrote: > > > I feel the same way aboyut the dry stuff, too! Certain dietitians are convinced about humans' need for meat albeit in small portions. I haven't investigated the topic, but I wonder if studies have been done on feeding cats a non-meat diet. Guest guest
A cat can't survive long on a non-meat diet, there's at least one amino acid, taurine, that's essential to a cat's health. Without it the cat will go blind (get central retinal degeneration (CRD))and can also cause feline dilated cardiomyopathy. So if you want a healthy cat, make sure that their food contains taurine. Then there are food stuff that are poisonous to cats, for example garlic, onions, green tomatoes, grapes, raisins and chocolate. /Helga , Cindi Waters <clean_boost wrote: > > I question that. Guest guest
I would just stick to can food and her dry food. I knew chocolate was a poison, but not others. she likes to eat fries and some veggies, she loves tomato sauce.
Guest guest
I have one that likes tomato sauce, too -- in fact, she likes EVERYTHING... Bread, tortilla chips, fake soy meat, etc. They can be awfully silly sometimes!
