Guest guest
I am very upset, just got back lab results with bad numbers. Although lowering them was not my motivation for going veg, thought it would be a positive side effect. So now I guess I have to say goodbye to cheese......one of my favorite foods. Any ideas? Thanks, Alexa
Guest guest
Stop your cheese and eggs. Vegan Gourmet tastes good and it melts. Don't forget your diet might play a small part in this, there are many factors, could be genetic too. We are all different, I eat butter and salt everything even my fruit and I have low blood pressure and low cholesterol. My sister has had high b lood pressure since age 18, she is very thin, vegan and eats no salt. See if eating a vegan diet helps you, have your test done again in 5-6 months. How much dairy and eggs do you consume? Don't forget to count them as ingredients in sandwichs, breads, desserts, sweets, etc. Sometimes we don't realize how much we are eating daily. Guest guest
Not all high cholesterol is due to what we eat! Look at your family's medical history; many families have high cholesterol as a family trait. Carl's sister has always been very slender and active yet at the age of 16 her cholesterol was very high as was her blood pressure. Â Are you going to be put on a statin to help lower the cholesterol? My doctor tried the herbal route with me for a year before (finally and grudgingly) putting me on a statin. Â Don't just fixate on the high numbers. How is your " good " cholesterol? Are you active (raises good cholesterol)? Â Hang in there and do some research! Guest guest
   How about plain celery? I don't like juicing -- but what about plain celery? ________________________________ Vigilius Haufniensis <thehatefulnerd Tue, December 22, 2009 11:54:22 PM Re: [veg_grp] bad cholesterol numbers  celery juice. get organic and juice it. Guest guest
Alexa, Sometimes high cholesterol is hereditary. I think idiet can help lower it, but possibly not bring it down to an acceptable level. Please don't get discouraged. Diet and exercise can and do play an important part. Medication may be necessary when diet and exercise alone do not get you to the proper levels. Just my thoughts. Deann
