Guest guest
I took a break today and walked over to the Shang Tea Co. store across the street from my office in Kansas City, Missouri. I have never had loose leaf tea, but my Grandma got me a tea maker that works with loose leaf tea, and my best friend has been telling me for years that loose leaf is better than bags. This place is very cool. The lady working was really nice, brewed some white tea for me to taste, and told me all about the tea and the company. All of the tea they sell (with the exception of the Wulong or Oolong) is organic, and comes from one particular tea farm in China. Shang Tea Co. also supplies tea to Whole Foods (maybe it's just the Kansas City stores, not sure). I got their best-selling white tea, White Peony King, and the Iron Goddess Wulong, just because I love Oolong. Their oolong blend is very good, and this white tea is almost sweet, it's so nice and mild. I did not know that white tea has the least amount of caffeine and most antioxidants of any tea -- which is nice (personally, I think green tea tastes like dirt)! Their only physical store in the US is the Kansas City one, but they do sell online: http://www.shangtea.com/. They have a nice selection and I think their prices are reasonable. Trying to wait til morning to make some white tea -- because even that tiny bit of caffeine might keep me awake!! Audrey

Guest guest
I had to pass the link along because this employee was so sweet and helpful -- and because the tea is really that good! Guest guest
I have already had some today -- it was excellent. Very mild, almost sweet. None of the bitter taste you get from some tea. The White Peony King is the one I got, she told me that was their best-selling tea. Guest guest
I drink tea, I order on-line from Teavana and I sometimes go the there store. I usually drink a mixture of silver needle, some kind of Mate tea, papaya oolong tea and either super fruit unity green tea or strawberry pu-reh. My daughter gave me this great travel mug with a tea strainer in it. In a message dated 12/30/2009 10:00:37 P.M. Eastern Standard Time, circular_hallway writes: Thank you for the tea link. Guest guest
Here's a recipe for something I call Morning Tea, although I have no idea why I named it that, as I don't have it strictly in the morning. Hey... never said I was normal. Jan's Morning Tea Ingredients: 1) Splenda or Honey, amount to taste (use any sweetener you prefer, but Equal tends to break down under all the cooking and does nothing much in the end-sweetener is optional, anyway. You can just leave it out if you prefer.) 2) Strong Black Tea, English or Irish Breakfast is good, Earl or Lady Grey is also good, but any decent black tea will do. 4-6 tea bags depending on strength of the tea chosen 3) Milk, fat-free, low-fat, or whole, cow's milk or soymilk, to taste 4) cinnamon sticks and/or mint leaves (optional) 5) You'll also need a quart-sized Pyrex measuring cup with handle and spout Directions: Put sweetener of choice and the tea bags in the Pyrex cup. Fill with water. Put it in your microwave. I can't tell you how long to steep the tea because every microwave is different. However, you need to cook it down until you have a reduction; that is, the liquid should be down to only 1/3 to 1/2 of the quart cup. Then fill the cup back to the top and do it again. You want to repeat this procedure at least three to five times until you have a black tea syrup at the bottom of your cup (no more than 1/3 to 1/2 of your quart cup) and the tea bags are filled with nothing more than straw. Remove the pathetic remnants of your valiant tea bags and fill the Pyrex cup with hot milk. Mix well. Serve in big comfy mugs and garnish with cinnamon sticks and/or mint leaves. For the feint of heart, this can be prepared with decaf or herbal tea, but really... what would be the point? LOL Happy New Year to All!
