Guest guest
Black eye peas are soaking. They will be cooked with their usual seasonings and served along some blue corn bread and a cabbage dish yet to be determined. Good luck and prosperity to all in the group! > We are having a baked potato party.
Guest guest
Does anyone know if split peas have any kind of new year connotation? I know black eyed peas do, but never heard of split peas. The reason I ask is that I wanted to make the smashed pea and barley soup this weekend and had to go to four stores before I could find green split peas. The only thing I could think of is that a lot of people had or were anticipating having ham for their holiday dinners and would be using the leftovers in split pea soup. Just curious.
