The dachshunds can't help it, they are hounds and it is their nature.

Pretzel loved to wear my snake around her neck, but get ab rodent or bird around

them and it just wasn't fair.  They were all distructive but full of love.

Oh LOL  My Uncle's  parrot kept his dogs and cats in line too when he was on

the floor.

Oh, but they snuggle so sweetly! :) Oscar " tee peed " the living room when he

was a puppy -- liked nothing better than to find an unattended roll of

toilet paper.... In his old age (he is 10) he has started howling when the

other dogs bark (guess it's easier than barking??)

I will never have another dachshund or any terrier-type dog -- they want too

much to kill my birds. I love greyhounds and mini greyhounds, but they are

predatory dogs as well. My chihuahua is very good around the birds, and so

was the border collie I fostered for several months. My sister's pug behaves

very well at my house, too -- ignores the birds.

Donna, you'll like this, you know parrots -- my red lored amazon, Goldie,

has trained the cats and dog to run when she is on the floor. :)
