They are lightly sweetened. 2 1/4 cups all purpose flour 1 1/2 cups confectioners' sugar 1 cup applesauce 2 egg whites 1 1/2 tsps. baking soda 1 tsp. cream of tartar 1 1/2 tsp. almond extract Preheat oven to 375 degrees. Spray 2 cookie sheets with nonfat cooking spray. Combine the flour, confectioners' sugar, applesauce, egg whites, baking soda, cream of tartar, and almond extract in a medium bowl; mix well. Drop by rounded teaspoonfuls onto the prepared cookie sheets. Flatten each piece of dough with your hands. Bake the cookies for 7 to 8 minutes or until golden brown. Note: The dough can be refrigerated for weeks until ready to use. If desired, sprinkle with colored sugar before baking. Yield: 48 cookies Calories: 40 each, Fat: 0 g. ( 0% fat) , Cholesterol: 0 mg., Carbohydrates: 9 g, Dietary Fiber: 0 g., Protein: 1 g., Sodium: 42 mg. Preparation time: 10 minutes Cooking time: 7 to 8 minutes Total Time: 18 minutes of less I am curious about what would happen to a recipe if you cut the butter down a bit or even by half.
