Guest guest
I am working on a project and although I know what a difference vegetarianism has made in my health and the health of my family, I was looking for a more formalized study on vegetarian/ vegan diets. The research that I have found thus far is full of anectodal information and what I am looking for is quotable scientific data. Do any of you have a resource that I can use? Please feel free to contact me off-list. Thanks in advance! Andrea andefrayser

Guest guest
The China Study by Joel Fuhrman, M.D. The book is somewhat controversial but it has numerous scientific references, some of them would have the information you are looking for. Guest guest
http://www.thevegetariansite.com/diet_stud.htm Try the above link: there are a number of studies cited here. Also, contact the library of your closest hospital. They will probably be able to tell you of works done by local MD's concerning vegetarianism as well as any monographs in their library. I vaguely remember hearing somewhere that the liver of the vegetarian has a different appearance in autopsy, but I don't have the source handy. Hope this helps. Guest guest
I just finished reading a book yesterday called Prevent and Reverse Heart Disease by Caldwell Esseltyn, MD. It was pretty good, and some of the recipes in there look really good too. I mainly checked it out for the recipes, but found myself fascinated with the book itself. And he mentions the China Study book listed below also.
