Guest guest
I called a local Mexican restaurant this afternoon -- eating there with friends tonight. This is the second time I have called a restaurant (during non-busy times!) to ask about menu items and ingredients and whether they are vegetarian. The employee who answered the phone had to ask someone else my questions about lard in tortillas, beans, and chicken stock in rice, but she came back quickly with helpful information. I really prefer this method to asking the waitstaff when I get there. Most of the time the waitstaff don't know, and the whole table has to wait while he/she goes to ask the (usually very busy) cooks. Just thought this might help someone else who hates quizzing the teenage waiter while a whole table of friends looks on... Audrey (looking forward to no-lard tamales filled with cheese and green chiles and vegetarian black beans tonight....)
