Guest guest Posted January 17, 2010 Report Share Posted January 17, 2010 Hello, I just joined this group in hopes to find ideas on cooking more vegetarian dishes. I grew up on beans, cornbread and a wide range of fresh garden vegetables. My father always had a garden and was growing organic way before organic was a household word. My most pleasant memories were when I would join him in his garden and he would pull a couple of fresh turnips and peel them with his pocket knife. We both would savor the taste of fresh raw produce! There is not a taste in the world like fresh vegetables straight from the garden! Dad has been gone for approx 14 years now but those days stay alive in my memories! I am not a vegetarian but I want to find more ways to cook in using less meats while at the same time getting the proper nutrition we all need. I believe if we are to eat meat, it needs to be used sparingly and as a condiment and not our main food. Who knows, I might just become a 100% vegetarian! The problem will be in switching my family over to a vegetarian lifestyle. Thanks so much for letting me join this group! I look forward to reading all of your ideas.
