Guest guest
Sounds like you are on the way to the 100% veg! Who knows - your family might follow you! Now, I want some turnips! I like them mashed with butter and salt/pepper. ________________________________
Guest guest
Hi Jackie, Welcome! I just wanted to tell you that I have very similar memories and to this day some of my fondest memories are of me and my Dad in the garden. We used to use meat as a condiment in our food as well, I was hesitant to let the animal protien go for fear of not giving the kids what they needed to grow. We started with all veggie days 4 days a week and we would have meat the other days with only one meal. After doing research I found that we could have a balanced diet with out meat and since eating animals was a heart crushing decision for me anyway- it was an easy transition for me. (The family- not so much) But in time, they embraced vegetarianism as well and now my husband (who was the toughest convert) is now the strongest advocate for vegetarianism. (He even cooks now which he NEVER did when we ate meat). I wish you all the best! Ande > My most pleasant memories were when I would join him in his garden and he would pull a couple of fresh turnips and peel them with his pocket knife. We both would savor the taste of fresh raw produce! > > There is not a taste in the world like fresh vegetables straight from the garden! Dad has been gone for approx 14 years now but those days stay alive in my memories! > > I am not a vegetarian but I want to find more ways to cook in using less meats while at the same time getting the proper nutrition we all need. I believe if we are to eat meat, it needs to be used sparingly and as a condiment and not our main food. Who knows, I might just become a 100% vegetarian! The problem will be in switching my family over to a vegetarian lifestyle. > >
