Guest guest
\I'm sorry to say that I am a novice in the kitchen,so anything I know how to make I am SURE you all know how to make. I am 33, hold a full time job as a social worker, and have a husband, almost 2 year old, and 2 cats. Prior to a few weeks ago, I never ever cooked - that was soley the responsibility of my husband (who is an excellent cook but also works full time and requested I cook at least one night a week) The best way to start a fight in my marriage is to utter the words 'What's for dinner?' We've been veg for a little over 3 years, own one terribly overcomplicated veg cookbook, and once we've had pizza and pasta a few nights, we're out of ideas. I'm here hoping to gain some confidence and knowledge for living our vegetarian life. I know there's archives of recipes, and I will look at those, but I do have this question for the long term vegetarians. What's a generally useful all purpose grocery list? In other words, what are the basics that you always have on hand to whip up something quick and decent to eat for a weekday dinner? Looking forward to hearing your thoughts, Stella
Guest guest
Hi Stella, I make out our menus for two weeks, and do all the shopping then. Some of the staples on our list are soymilk, dried beans, canned beans, canned tomatoes, fresh veggies, frozen veggies, fresh and frozen fruits, onions, potatoes, pastas, spaghetti sauce. We are eating vegan now, so I dont do any eggs or cheese but those used to be on the list also. Cherie in North Dakota
