Guest guest
Hi Pam, You will find that just about any recipe, even long standing favorites, can be made veggie friendly. There are lots of good alternative ingredients available both commercially produced and some you will make up on your own, that produce very tasty and good looking results. In addition to Quorn products, Boca and so many other brands of meat alternatives, try substituting beans or chopped veggies for ground meat in recipes that you already know and enjoy. The possibilities are endless and you can hit upon some really great meals. For instance, my husband loved pulled meat bar-b-que sandwiches, so he tried using lightly cooked shredded carrots, squash, onions and a little shredded potatoes as the meat substitute, and seasoned them like he would have done the meat( sea salt, pepper, onion powder, garlic powder, season all etc), and added Bar-b-que sauce. YUMMO! Served on potato rolls with cole slaw, or potato salad or some fresh fruit it is a real treat. (I like mine with sauteed mushrooms and swiss cheese melted on top.) Best of all it is inexpensive and easy to make. (You can also put this in a pita) There are great recipes in the files here, but don't forget to revamp the ones you already know and love. Peace, Andrea > > My name is Pam and I am interested in finding good tasting vegetarian recipes for my family. Guest guest
Thank you everyone for your ideas. I'd never thought of using carrots in a BBQ substitution. I have yet to find Quorn products anywhere here. Maybe I'm just not looking for the right thing or in the right place. If I can get my email to this group working, I hope to be able to participate more. Pam
