Guest guest
They don't bother me in the least -- maybe because there are so many other things on the sandwich? They do make the funniest purple-colored juice, all over the bread and the plate! I love mushrooms, and portobellos are one of my favorite foods. (and BTW -- have to repeat, I can't believe how much I LOVE Veganaise!) Audrey On Sat, Feb 6, 2010 at 7:42 PM, <thelilacflower wrote: > > > Do you remove the dark gills with a teaspoon? Guest guest
I don't, but I'm sure you could do it that way. You are making me laugh They are kinda gross, though. Just reminds me: when we were younger, there was this gigantic mushroom in our yard and my younger brother excitedly told my mother. She was afraid that he would eat it, so she told him if he ate it, he would die. I think he was 2 at the time, and up until maybe 5 years ago, he never ate mushrooms. He's almost 35 now. I used to work with a vegan who didn't eat mushrooms because he said mushrooms were " carnivorous " in that they derived their nutrients from other plants. Guest guest
That is hilarious about your brother! The vegan who didn't eat mushrooms... interesting. So he would really object to eating a venus flytrap, huh? *I* would really object to eating a venus flytrap, too, but for different reasons!!! Guest guest
LOL Eliane I heard that mushroom story from my Mom. I think she had to keep saying it to me because she knew I had a huge appetite and I was always outside picking up lizards, frogs, and bugs and she thought I eat one of those toadstools Donna Sent from my Verizon Wireless BlackBerry
Guest guest
I always thought that was strange because everything derives nutrients from something else, lol! Some people get carried away! Guest guest
Yep, moms are good for that. You sound like my daughter. I am terrified of everything, but she wasn't. When she was about 6, they had a reptile show and tell day at school, and she comes home and tells me about how you can tell if a snake is poisonous--something about how close their eyes are together. I was so afraid she would bring home a snake because she was always wanting a pet. I told her, don't pick up any snakes, and she asked me 'What if he doesn't have a home?' So I told her that his mom would miss him if she brought him in, lol. That seemed to appease her for awhile. One day she almost caught a jack rabbit. Then, when my brother helped me move to my first home, he came in cracking up laughing because he said he saw her holding something. When he came up close, he said she had a beetle & was petting it. He said she said it was 'the only pet I'll ever have'. She finally got a dog. She loves, loves, loves animals. When we moved to our current house, it seemed every week a new animal was coming to the house, and they always came to her. One time, a stray dog saw her from across the street. He just jumped in her arms--so cute! He was a little teacup terrier. I wished we could've kept him, but he was a neighbor's. But she wants to have a home with a ton of animals. I'm not so into that, lol! On Sat, Feb 6, 2010 at 9:06 PM, <thelilacflower wrote: > > > LOL Eliane I heard that mushroom story from my Mom. Guest guest
Your daughter would love our house then......we have 18 dogs!! I wish I could find homes for at least 10 of them! When I was a little girl, I wanted to have a farm when I grew up so I could take in all of the animals that no one else wanted.....almost there! You can tell a non-poisonous snake from a poisonous one by looking at the shape of the head. A poisonous snake has a head that is more of a triangle shape and if you see what look like nasal openings, you are looking at a very poisonous pit viper. Send your daughter to my house to get a lovable dog! Nancy C. East Texas Yep, moms are good for that. You sound like my daughter. I am terrified of everything, but she wasn't. My oldest daughter had a thing for bees, of all things, when she was about 3,. She'd pick them up and let them crawl all over her, I kept warning her they could sting, but they never stung her until one day when one got into the hot car. It was angry or scared of something, and when she picked it up, it did sting her. She was shocked, even outraged, that her " friend " would sting her. Her feelings were hurt more than her body, I think. After that, she didn't pick them up anymore, She still insisted she was going to be an entomologis, though.
