Guest guest
I realize this is OT buy with everyone being so wise, especially with their diets, I thought I would as ya'll about natural methods of getting rid of dark eye circles. I have a very low thyroid and allergies, so I know those are the leading cause of my circles. Do you have any tips for helping to get rid of my dark circles? Thanks for the help!! Dena PS: I have used over the counter methods and creams with no results, so natural must be the way to go. I realize I may be doomed to take my circles to the grave. Thanks again! Guest guest
If the dark circles are due to allergies, you need to remove the allergens. ________________________________ Dena Deen <tigriss007 Sun, February 7, 2010 5:33:08 PM [veg_grp] OT: How do you get rid of dark eye circles  I realize this is OT buy with everyone being so wise, especially with their diets, I thought I would as ya'll about natural methods of getting rid of dark eye circles. I have a very low thyroid and allergies, so I know those are the leading cause of my circles. Do you have any tips for helping to get rid of my dark circles? Thanks for the help!! Guest guest
I use soaked Lipton tea bags or cucumber slices and I make sure my pillow is elevated some at night. I get almost no sleep but I don't have dark circles. Donna Sent from my Verizon Wireless BlackBerry
Guest guest
If you find the answer, Dena, I want to know, too! A good concealer is the only thing that has ever helped me. I have always had dark circles. I'm afraid it's genetic, at least in my case. Guest guest
I have seen the cold, plain tea bag soak and the cucumber slices or juice/grated cucumeber on the eyes. That seems to be what everone in their online posts seems to put forth. As far as allergies, I take my allergy meds religiously as well as clean house, but I live in the south with plenty of ongoing pollen. I'm really allergic to grass becasue I get sick when I cut it or am around my neighbors cutting grass. I love the smell, but boy does it pull a number on my sinuses. I even hit extra antihistamines at night to help with long days of allergins. I've been going through all the things I have in my house and purging and even that is pulling a number. I'll pick up tea bags for soaking and cucmber for making eye packs. I do sleep with my bed elevated 6 inches because of my acid reflux that I've had since I was 20, now 29. I take meds for that too, but the elevation helps the most, as well as diet. Thanks for the tips and keep them coming. Dena
Guest guest
I'm just a year younger than you, Dena. Do you have problems wearing contact lenses because of your allergies? I've gotten to where I really can't wear them for more than 9 hours (and that's too long some days) -- I only wear them 3 days a week, but I think it's just some weird dry eye thing, not allergies. I wonder if that could be related to dark circles? Guest guest
I do wear contacts and all day as well. I don't typically have dry eyes, but lately this has been an issue as my eyes swell from this dramatic weather we are having. I get headaches associated with weather fronts, so I pull out my glasses and pray I have my clip on sun shades. I never go out without my sun glasses. I always wear moisturizer or my mineral makeup with sunscreen, especially extra sun screen when I am out in the sun. The dry eyes or watery eyes cause me to rub my eyes, especially in my sleep with causes some of my dark circles. I most likely will always have dark circles, but boy do I wish they were lighter so I could use concealer to hid all of them. Right now they are only lightened with concealer and all the techniques I have tried on that front. I may just need to reduce stress and find time for pampering my skin more!! Guest guest
I haven't been able to wear my contacts in nearly a year. This year is the worst it's been. I've had conjunctivitis twice. I also get eczema now on my eyelids. Here is an herbal group I belong to: herb You might check them out and ask Many of them are herbalists. Guest guest
If you are not vegan, eliminating dairy and having a spoonful of local honey every day may help. ________________________________ Dena Deen <tigriss007 Sun, February 7, 2010 6:45:42 PM Re: [veg_grp] OT: How do you get rid of dark eye circles  I have seen the cold, plain tea bag soak and the cucumber slices or juice/grated cucumeber on the eyes. Dena

Guest guest
Hi Dena...... I don't have any allergies that I know of but have had a very low thyroid for about 8 years now. I am a fair skinned auburn haired person but have never had any signs of dark eye circles even since my low thyroid diagnoses but before I started on the thyroid replacement med, Synthyroid, which works very well. I have one daughter who has some allergies and she used to get circles under her eyes when she was little but not as an adult. I would think that your under eye circles might be allergy related for sure.....low thyroid, I am not sure. Under eye concealer doesn't help? Nancy C. Guest guest
Hi Dena..... The local honey you take every day needs to be from a hive within 10 miles of your home AND the honey needs to have the comb in it.....you chew it all, swallowing only the honey and spit out the comb. A lot of the pollen, which is what you are after, is in the comb sections. I had a hive for 10 years and learned a lot from the old time beekeepers at the Texas Assoc. of Beekeepers meetings that I attended. My oldest son had lots of pollen allergies and this is what was suggested to me by one of the beekeepers who was in his 80's. It helped my son a lot. Good luck... Nancy C.
