Guest guest
Hello! I wanted to add a couple of ideas about the dark under-eye circles and also to say something brief about ADD and ADHD--please bear with me. THANKS! I just wanted to say that ADD/ADHD and food sensitivities or sensitivities to food additives (as per the Feingold Diet) are not the same thing. Getting rid of lots of additives and sensitizing foods will help with ADD or ADHD many times, but it is not necessarily the only " cure " for it. I have ADD; Diet plays a good-sized part in how I function best with the ADD, but it doesn't make it go away. I've learned there are MANY things that help, and generally healthy lifestyle habits make a big difference. It's not gone, but it's manageable most of the time. For the dark under-eye circles, you have my sympathy! I'll give yet another two-cent's worth of ideas that I have on it... Keep on a healthy diet with LOTS of fresh vegetables and fruits, especially, when possible, LOTS of green, leafy veggies, dark or bright-colored fruits/vegetables, good WHOLE grain foods, legumes (beans/peas/lentils) and beware of the overly processed foods, the additive-laden foods, the fried foods, and such. You can try eliminating some foods that might be irritating to you to see if adding them back in will INCREASE your symptoms (dairy, wheat, corn, for example). It's time-consuming, but usually helpful because then you KNOW what it is that may be making things worse. While you can do a lot with dietary changes, also remember that exercise is good--it improves blood circulation, which will help the look of the skin and help nourish all body tissues. Another important thing is to get plenty of water to drink. (It helps flush out impurities from the body and carry away " wastes " from the cells). It's important to drink plenty of fluids, especially water, if a person is taking medications for this reason. A third idea might be to ask yourself if you are getting enough quality, restful sleep at night. (I was personally skeptical of this until I found that a slow-healing leg/foot injury that gave me WAY too much pain was GREATLY improved once I got over the notion that all I " needed " was 6-7 hours of sleep. I " let " myself try for 8-9 hours' sleep at night. My pain was GREATLY improved on the nights when I slept better and longer. When I got it thru my head that sleeping better and longer at night was good for my recovery, I began to make great strides--no pun intended! I hope you get good relief from your allergies. I sympathize with that--I get sinus allergies during warm weather. Teabags and cucumber slices are good for under-eye puffiness, I have heard. Keep researching, too--pay attention to your nutrition, hydration and general activities--there are probably many things that will be helpful and I wish you all the best in your quest! With good wishes to you & for your health! --Laura B.,in Illinois
