If you mean a substitute for meat, my answer is that I do use meat

substitutes, although I don't get cravings for meat anymore. In the

beginning, I absolutely had to find a good veggie hot dog (Worthington Loma

Linda), and that helped enormously. Also, fried chicken smelled awfully good

to me in the beginning (though I have such strong feelings about eating

birds that once I made my decision about poultry, I never cheated - crab and

shrimp were harder for me). I found a breaded Quorn cutlet that cured my

fried chicken craving. So, whatever it is that you really crave, find a good

substitute. You didn't say what type of meat you crave, but ask this list --

we know what's good! Depending on where you live, you will have different

choices available, too.

If you meant substitutes for dairy, honestly, I haven't used that many. I've

been using almond milk on my cereal, and Veganaise on my sandwiches. I have

tried the nondairy cream cheese and a vegan cheddar cheese, but in a month

haven't used the whole package of either.

For some people (me included!) I think it is easier to eliminate one item

from our diet at a time. It's easier to get used to a new diet gradually.

Two years ago, I would never have dreamed that I could go a whole month

without eating dairy at more than 4 meals, but after eating vegetarian for 2

years and getting accustomed to more vegetables and different flavors, it

wasn't that hard. Keep at it, and keep using this list as a resource! :)
