Guest guest
For those going to Kansas City to see the Royals, I got this from the Royals VP today! ----- Forwarded Message ---- Cindy Hamilton <Cindy.Hamilton Cindy Hamilton <Cindy.Hamilton Tue, February 9, 2010 4:16:40 PM Please see the following response from KC Royals Senior VP - Kevin Uhlich Thank you for your recent email requesting that we consider a more expanded vegetarian menu here at Kauffman Stadium next season. Based upon customer feedback, we have decided to enhance our vegetarian offerings and I would like to share with you our new additions planned for this year. I have also included many items which we carried last season and you might not have been fully aware of.  In 2010 you will see several new items that fans should find as pleasant additions to this important food category. The first is our new “Burrito Conceptâ€. These are made to order and can be made without meat. This burrito concept will be conveniently located on two concourse carts located approximately at sections 232 on the first base side, and 223 on the third base side of the Plaza Level. This item will be similar to concepts seen at Chipotle or Baja Fresh.  In addition, we will also offer a vegetarian hot dog and a vegetarian hamburger option at our 3-pack concession stands. These stands are conveniently located at sections 221 and 234 on the Plaza Level concourse, and 417 and 422 on the View Level upper concourse. We will also carry the vegetarian burger in Rivals Sports Bar.  We will still be carrying the following vegetarian options from last season.  ·        Loaded Nacho (ask for no meat) ·        Baked Potato ·        Iceberg Wedge Salad at Rival’s ·        Chop House Salad at Rival’s ·        Cheese Pizza ·        Mac N Cheese for kids ·        Cheese Bites ·        Popcorn, Pretzels, Peanuts, Nachos, Ice Cream, Brownies  We appreciate your feedback and we hope that these changes will make your visit to Kauffman Stadium more enjoyable.  Sincerely,  KEVIN M. Guest guest
Wonderful! It's cool that you took the initiative. I don't watch baseball or live anywhere near Kansas City, but perhaps I can ask the managers of hockey rinks and speedways about better vegetarian options. When I go to a race, I basically have to smuggle my own food, and that's a long day! Hockey...well, I content myself with a Diet Coke and a small order of nachos, and have learned to have dinner before the game. Cute true story: I often have friends over to watch races and hockey games. We have a huge hi-def TV that we won a couple years ago, and I love to cook and mix drinks. One of my friends has an adorable 9-year-old daughter who would eat vegetarian all the time if her mother let her. She's very used to my food. When we went to Nassau Coliseum for a Penguins/Islanders game last October, she was genuinely surprised and disappointed that they didn't have hummus, which I consider a sports-watching staple. No black bean chili or bean burritos, either! The options were very limited for us both, and I was like, " We'll have nachos, sweetie. The point's to watch our guys win anyway, not to eat. " I'll bet a lot of vegetarians say that, and Gods help any vegans who want to see a game or race live! What I find really funny about all this is that when it comes to sporting events, the athletes we're watching generally eat very healthfully and try to avoid the food that spectators are offered. Guest guest
Actually, PETA is responsible! I went to their website www.peta.org and signed up for their action emails which tell me what activities are going on in my area. They sent me a letter to send to the Royals. All I had to do was attach my name and send it. That, I can do. Naked picketing in front of a department store, umm not so much... - Sally ________________________________ GreenEyedLilo <jayelle3 Wed, February 10, 2010 10:32:46 PM [veg_grp] Re: For Vegetarians going to Kansas City Royals games Wonderful!
